Love this recipe, makes a lot ! Super easy too. You'll need:
1 block extra firm tofu
1/2 tablespoon aminos ( i used coconut aminos this time )
2 tsp liquid smoke
2 tblspn nutritional yeast
1/2 tsp thyme
1/2 tsp sage
1 tsp fresh ground pepper
1.5 tsp paprika
1 tsp salt
optional - 1/2 tsp cayenne if you want spicy : )
First press as much water out of the tofu as you can. I squeeze it with my hands over the sink first, then place on a paper towel lined plate. Put another plate on top & something heavy on that to press it out. Used my mortar & pestle here. Small.. but heavy ! Let that sit for 10 min.
Then crumble up the tofu into a food processor & add everything else. Blend til smooth.
Then on a parchment lined baking sheet, spatula the mix out & spread thinly into a square. I press it down with my hands til its a nice thin square. This is the most tedious part of the recipe, but really not that hard.
Bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes & voiLa ! Cut into desired sized squares. Or you can cut round slices with a large cookie cutter. Up 2 U !
Yum.. time for sammiches
Feel free to mess around with the spice mix as well. I've used miso paste & gochujang in this too, so bomb !
